Cloud Computing

Here at PhotoBiz we are always striving to keep pace with the cutting edge of technology and offer it to our clients.  One way that we are proud to be able to offer that is through the manner in which you build and maintain your website.  There are many conveniences and advantages offered to you through “Cloud Computing” which is a fairly new buzz word that is floating around the tech world.

 

What is it?  “Cloud computing” refers to a common application online that is accessed from a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Safari.  Some ways that many of you can relate to this “cloud computing” already is:  Any email that you read online, Online form of banking, or Instant Messaging.  These systems are already built in a cloud computing format.  PhotoBiz provides you with a web based control panel to build and maintain your website with.  Whether you are using a PC or a Mac; as long as you have internet access you can make the changes to your website.

 

Advantages:  Now there are a lot of great advantages to cloud computing over what other companies are doing.
1. First, you are only paying for the space that you take up.  This is kind of like paying for electricity in your house.  Most of you don’t go buy a windmill to generate electricity, you pay for it monthly.  This is the same concept
2. Secondly, you receive automatic updates and upgrades.  You simply login and the changes are already there.  There is no fussing with downloading new things to your computer, its automatic.  This is a key step that other companies are not able to offer by not cloud computing!
3. With no installation, you have the advantage of working on your website from anywhere that you have internet access.  You’re not tied down to one computer.
4. This also allows you to collaborate with others on the same project.  You could be working on it at the same time someone else is.
5. You also don’t need to save different drafts or backup your website on an external hard drive.  Our system backs it up for you and has redundant servers ready.
6. Lastly, if you are hosting your own website, you will have to manually maintain your server and hosting upgrades.  This is one more thing that you won’t have to worry about with us.

Phonies:  Many companies do similar things to “cloud computing”, but there are some obvious drawbacks.  Here is how to identify that someone is not “Cloud Computing”: (One or More May Apply)
• When you simply buy a template outright from a company!
• When they require you to buy a separate hosting account.
• When you need software to use their system.
• When there are no auto system updates/upgrades.
• When you can’t access from different operating systems. (ie. You use a PC OR MAC)
• When you manually maintain your server and hosting upgrades.
*These companies are notorious for much weaker customer support due to limited access by the support team.
