Icon Bank
We are really excited to announce a highly anticipated feature that our PhotoBizers have been requesting. The ability to put icons directly on your website is something that has been a sought after feature for quite some time. I am going to go through a number of screen shots below to describe exactly what it looks like, how it functions, how to add this yourself and more details about the release of this new “Icon Bank” feature.
First of all, it is important to know that if you are a PhotoBiz customer this is free of charge. Once we release this update, you will find this in your control panel and be able to use it right away! In the Flash/HTML control panel, navigate over to the “Settings” tab toward the top right. Here is where you will see a new section called “Icon Settings” (Shown Below)
Simply click on “Add Icon” and you will see the following box appear on your screen: (Shown Below)
Below is a close-up of the icons that you will have to choose from. We have started with over 20 different popular icons such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Blog, Shopping Cart, Flickr, Paypal, Blog/RSS, Vimeo, Tumblr, WordPress, Youtube and more! Once you have selected an icon, you can simply put in your URL and choose whether you want it to open in a new or same window (Highly Recommend “Open in new window”). The “Tool Tip” will be shown if you roll-over the icon on your website (Shown in a later screen shot)
Update: The “Yelp” icon has now been added for your convenience (April 12th, 2011)
This is what the control panel will look like once you have added a few icons. You can have upto 10 of them appear on your website at a time!
One of the best attributes of this new feature is the color shifting ability! As you create a completely custom color scheme on your website to complement the images, the last thing you want is an icon distracting from the overall design. With our advanced color switching technology, we have taken this into consideration and allowed these icons to follow suit with these design elements. Now you will have the benefit of the icons without the distractions!
Lastly, here is a better view of how the “Tool Tip” will appear. When someone scrolls over one of the icons, this tool tip will display just as it is shown in the image below. This is especially helpful if you are using less common icons and also to give your clients a better idea of where they are about to go. You never know, there might be people visiting your website that aren’t on Facebook…
When will this Feature be Released?

I totally agree with Fritz. Facebook and other sites have so many great tools for businesses. It would be great to see these features implimented. One that I am especially interested in is the ability for visitors to log in (if they aren't already) to their facebook account and comment and like pictures just as they would on facebook, so that it shows up on their pages. Love the Icon Bank and I can't wait for it to be available in more Templates. Thanks Photobiz!

:( Why not all the templates, in general? I have lakewood and would LOVE this ability.
L.Alison - Albuquerque will not be upgraded with this feature and likely a lot of other features that we release. The templates previously known as Traditional, Designer and Classic were built on an older platform using different coding language. Our newer templates (Everything after "Old West") are MUCH MUCH more customizable and capable of more than just about anything else online! I would strongly encourage you switching to a new template. Please let me know if you would like any personal assistance with this.
Francis - Yes, you will just put a link so you can use either your personal facebook page link or your fan page link.

These icons are just links, correct, directing people to our FB or Twitter pages? Why are they not "Share on Facebook" or "Share on Twitter" icons? That would actually be useful. Let's get on the social networking bandwagon here, and give people a chance to share us quickly and easily!
Can you have the facebook icon link you to your fan page and not your personal page ?

I was really exited about this until I saw that the template I use (Albuquerque) is not on the list. When will they all get it?
YES! This is awesome!
I'm sorry Sara and Melonie, due to the technology constraints in which these older templates were built on, we are not able to pass these upgrades along to them (including Shanghai). The templates described above are the only templates that we have planned to receive this update.
Steve - That is a great idea. I know that it was considered but I will certainly let them know that this is a desired feature. One thing that we can do is add more icons as needed to this bank, however, it would be an icon available to everyone.
This is great. I'm using the Shanghai template though. I didn't see this on the list above. will social icons and links not be available on my template then? that would be a big bummer for me! Please let me know
Can you take this to the next level and allow us to create a custom logo... for instance, if we want to direct our visitors to a 3rd party website of a partner of ours, and want to use their logo, can we have the funcatioality to upload a custom logo and create a link?
