Creating an Effective Website Series: Multiple Websites - One Domain

This is the first article in a series regarding how to create an effective website.  This series will include highlights of Sub-Sites, Splash Pages, logo creation, overall design of your site and effectively putting the pieces together.  Not only does PhotoBiz provide you with the great tools to build your new website, but we help you every step of the way.

Where to Link Them:

This first section that we want to focus on has to do with your splash page.  Splash pages are used to direct your customers to where they can find the best information.  Let’s say for example that you shoot weddings and commercial.  Do you want your commercial clients looking through a bunch of wedding photos before they see anything commercial?  I’ve heard many photographers say that if you do commercial and weddings, you don’t want one hand to know what the other is doing.  With a splash page, you can direct your customers to a site that will tailor to their needs very effectively.

What to Include:

To help your customers find the best information that will fit their needs, you can create different websites that will tailor to them.  If you do multiple types of photography, you may have a website that targets each category.  Many photographers will specialize in Portraits, Seniors, and Weddings.  While this is great and opens you up to a larger market, no bride will want to sort through your senior photos to find a few wedding images; the same goes the other way as seniors don’t need to see your wedding information.  Create a website for each genre of photography that includes images, pricing and other information that is relevant to the customer.  This will improve the overall satisfaction and experience your potential customers have with your business.

How to Create Them:

PhotoBiz has made it easy to create additional websites while not putting a dent in your budget.  By linking everything from a splash page, you can use a secondary website to put this new information on.  For example, if your domain is:  http://www.photoumbra.com, then your secondary website can be http://weddings.photoumbra.com OR http://seniors.photoumbra.com.  This is easy to do with PhotoBiz because you can maintain all of the websites within one control panel.  Further, you can share one monthly plan between all of the websites which will control your costs much better!

Why Should I Do This:

By doing this, you still only have to market 1 domain name which is your main domain.  Secondly, this allows you to really focus each website toward your target market.  For only $95 one time set up fee, you can create a secondary website like I’ve described here and start tailoring a site to each genre of photography.  With PhotoBiz, we make it easy, inexpensive and effective!

Introducing the New “PhotoBiz Faceoff”
