How Photographers Can Make More Money This Fall and Holiday Season

Oct 14 2026 | By: PhotoBiz Team

Fall is one of the busiest times of the year for photographers, but being busy does not always mean being more profitable.

Between fall family portraits, senior sessions, holiday cards, mini sessions, gifts, prints, albums, and end-of-year events, there are a lot of opportunities to generate revenue over the next few months.

The key is to think beyond simply booking more sessions.

Your existing clients, previous sessions, galleries, email list, website traffic, and even your old blog posts can all become part of your fall and holiday revenue strategy.

And consumers are spending.

Adobe reported that U.S. consumers spent a record $257.8 billion online during the 2025 holiday season, an increase of 6.8% year over year. Mobile devices accounted for a record 56.4% of online holiday spending.

At the same time, shoppers are watching their budgets more carefully. Deloitte found that 89% of surveyed holiday shoppers planned to look for deals, but nearly half, 47%, also planned to give experiential gifts.

That creates an interesting opportunity for photographers.

You do not necessarily need to become the cheapest photographer in town. You need to make what you offer feel valuable, convenient, memorable, and easy to buy.

Here are some ways to do it.

1. Build Fall Mini Sessions That Can Scale

Mini sessions are one of the most obvious fall opportunities, but there is a reason photographers keep using them.

A well-planned mini-session day lets you photograph multiple clients within a relatively short window while keeping your location, lighting, setup, and workflow consistent.

Instead of simply advertising:

Fall Mini Sessions, $200

think about how the offer can generate additional revenue.

For example:

$225 Fall Mini Session

  • 20-minute session
  • 5 digital images
  • Online Client Gallery with ability to purchase as much as they want
  • Print packages available after the session

Now your $225 session is not necessarily a $225 client.

The session gets them in the door. Additional images, prints, packages, albums, and future sessions increase the lifetime value of that customer.

Let PhotoBiz Handle the Booking

PhotoBiz Scheduler can be used to create mini sessions on specific dates, control available appointment times, collect payment, ask booking questions, and offer optional upgrades.

Once a time is booked, that appointment is removed from availability automatically.

That means fewer messages like:

"Is 2:30 still available?"

"What about 3:00?"

"Can we do Sunday instead?"

Your website can handle much of the booking process for you.

2. Do Not Stop Selling When the Session Ends

For many photographers, the transaction ends when the photos are delivered.

That leaves money on the table.

A client who already loves their photographs is one of the best audiences you will ever have.

Your Client Gallery can become a storefront where clients can purchase:

  • Prints
  • Additional digital images
  • Digital packages
  • Products
  • Packages
  • Custom albums
  • Other photography products

PhotoBiz Client Galleries allow photographers to sell prints, packages, products, and digital files directly through their galleries, with no PhotoBiz commission on those sales. You can also create different price lists for different types of clients or sessions.

Instead of thinking of the gallery as the place where you deliver photographs, start thinking about it as the next part of your sales process.

3. Create Simple Holiday Packages

Holiday shoppers are already accustomed to bundles.

Photographers can do the same thing.

Instead of giving clients dozens of individual choices, create two or three easy-to-understand packages.

For example:

Holiday Digital Package

10 additional digital images

Holiday Print Package

Two 8x10s
Four 5x7s
Eight gift prints

Everything Package

Full digital gallery
Print package
Album or wall-art credit

You do not have to discount everything either.

Sometimes the value comes from packaging several things together and making the buying decision easier.

PhotoBiz Ecommerce lets you sell digital downloads, physical prints, photography products, services, and custom packages online.

4. Turn Photography Into a Holiday Gift

Photography does not have to be purchased only by the person being photographed.

It can also be the gift.

Deloitte's 2025 holiday research found that 47% of surveyed shoppers planned to give experiential gifts, such as events, dining, and other experiences.

Consider promoting:

  • Family session gifts
  • Engagement session gifts
  • Grandparent and family portraits
  • Pet photography sessions
  • Senior portrait credits
  • Headshot sessions
  • Boudoir sessions
  • Anniversary portraits
  • Print or album credits

A grandparent may not need another sweater. They might love a family portrait. And a small business owner might buy updated headshots for their team.

Create Gift Cards With PhotoBiz

PhotoBiz Ecommerce allows you to create gift cards that can be used as prepaid credit toward products and other purchases.

You could promote something as simple as:

Give a $250 Photography Experience

or

Give the Gift of Family Photography

Now your photography business becomes part of the holiday gift market, not just the holiday portrait market.

5. Go Back to Your Existing Clients

One of your best sources of holiday revenue may already be sitting in your contact list.

Think about everyone you photographed over the last few years.

  • Families grow.
  • Kids change.
  • Seniors graduate.
  • Couples get married.
  • People adopt pets.
  • Businesses hire employees.

Your previous clients already know your work, which makes them a much warmer audience than someone discovering you for the first time.

Send an email.

It does not have to be complicated.

Try:

  • Fall sessions are now open
  • Holiday mini sessions are here
  • It might be time for a new family portrait
  • Holiday print ordering is now available
  • Give a photography session this Christmas
  • Last chance to order prints before the holidays

PhotoBiz includes built-in Email Marketing tools, and the Website Package currently includes up to 10,000 marketing emails per month.

There are also campaign starting points specifically designed around photography businesses, including Mini Sessions, Family Sessions, Headshots, Holiday Sales, Fall Sessions, Senior Portrait Season, booking reminders, and more.

You already did the hard part of getting these people to become clients.

Stay in touch with them.

6. Create a Real Deadline

A promotion becomes more powerful when there is a reason to act now.

Instead of running a vague holiday sale for two months, give customers a specific window.

For example:

October 1–15: Early holiday session booking

October 15–November 15: Holiday portrait season

Black Friday Weekend: 20% off selected prints and products

December 1: Final date for guaranteed holiday print ordering

December 10–24: Promote gift cards and future-session credits

PhotoBiz Ecommerce gives you two different ways to approach these promotions.

You can create coupons when you want customers to enter a code, or create Sales Campaigns that automatically display discounted pricing on eligible items.

Sales Campaigns can be applied to your Ecommerce store and Client Galleries, making them particularly useful for seasonal and limited-time promotions.

The important part is not constantly discounting your work.

7. Turn Every Fall Session Into Marketing

Here is where your fall schedule can start helping your future schedule.

You photograph a beautiful fall family session.

Instead of posting three images on social media and moving on, turn that session into content.

Create a blog post about:

Fall Family Photography in Greensboro, NC

Best Places for Fall Family Photos in Nashville

What to Wear for Your Fall Family Portraits

Our Favorite Fall Engagement Photography Locations

Holiday Family Portrait Ideas

Now that session can potentially attract people searching for the same service.

PhotoBiz makes this particularly easy because you can create a blog post directly from an existing Client Gallery. You can choose images from the gallery, add information about the session or location, and even use Ask PhotoBiz AI to help create the written content.

Then take it another step.

PhotoBiz can also turn a published blog post into an email marketing campaign using Ask PhotoBiz AI.

That creates a simple cycle:

Photograph → Client Gallery → Blog → Email → Website Traffic → New Booking

One job helps market the next one.

8. Sell to Businesses Before the End of the Year

Do not limit your fall strategy to families.

Fall can also be a good time to approach local businesses.

Companies may need:

  • Employee headshots
  • Team photographs
  • Office photography
  • Product photography
  • Holiday event coverage
  • Corporate party photography
  • Updated website imagery
  • Social media content
  • Personal branding sessions

You can create dedicated pages on your website targeting these services and start reaching out to local businesses.

And larger commercial jobs do not always fit neatly into a standard shopping cart.

PhotoBiz Quotes & Invoices lets photographers build customized quotes, include individual line items, add pricing and terms, send them to clients, and convert approved quotes into invoices.

That gives you another potential revenue stream while your consumer portrait business is moving through its busy season.

9. Make Buying From You Easy on a Phone

This one matters more every year.

During the 2025 holiday season, 56.4% of online spending happened on mobile devices.

Your clients may discover your photography while sitting on the couch, waiting in the school pickup line, scrolling social media, or researching photographers after their kids go to bed.

They should be able to go from:

“I like this photographer.”

to:

“I'm booked.”

without fighting your website.

Keep your fall landing pages simple.

Show:

  1. Your best photographs
  2. What the session includes
  3. The price or starting price
  4. Available dates
  5. A clear booking button

That is one of the advantages of having your photography website, Ecommerce, Scheduler, Client Galleries, Marketing, Forms, and business tools together inside PhotoBiz.

The fewer steps there are between interest and payment, the better.

10. Start Marketing the Holidays Before the Rush

Waiting until the holiday rush has already started puts you behind the photographers who began communicating earlier.

Your fall marketing can start simple.

September

Build your seasonal website pages.
Set up mini sessions.
Update pricing.
Create gift options.
Email previous clients.

October

Photograph fall sessions.
Publish session blogs.
Promote holiday bookings.
Start talking about prints and products.

November

Promote remaining sessions.
Run targeted Black Friday or Cyber Monday offers.
Remind previous clients about gallery purchases.
Begin pushing gift cards.

December

Create clear print-ordering deadlines.
Promote gift cards and session credits.
Market January and winter sessions.
Thank clients and encourage them to book again.

You do not need to create a completely new marketing strategy every week.

Build one system and keep feeding it.

Your Website Should Help You Make Money

A photography website should do more than display beautiful pictures.

That is why PhotoBiz is more than a website builder.

With your website, Client Galleries, Ecommerce, Scheduler, Email Marketing, Blog, Quotes & Invoices, and PhotoBiz AI working together, you can build a much larger system around the photography you are already creating.

You do not necessarily need twice as many clients to make more money this fall.

Sometimes you just need to create more opportunities from every client you already have.

And there is still plenty of time to start.
